Volunteering with Fresh Start Foundation

Specific Volunteer roles

There is no shortage of helpful things you can do for passingiton, from volunteering in The Gambia to marshalling at our HEROES RUN, all help is gratefully appreciated. Here's what you can do:

1. Volunteering in The Gambia

FSF

We are delighted to be working with the charity Fresh Start Foundation (FSF) on project 3, the development of the Kwinella Lower Basic School in the Gambia.

As well us funds for development, what the project really needs is volunteers to go over for a few weeks to work in either the school or adjacent medical centre. FSF have developed a specific volunteer package to go to the school, a package that the passingiton team have recently experienced and loved.

passingiton and FSF are keen to pool our collective strengths. We are good at dressing up silly and raising money, FSF are great at identifying the practical needs of the school and arranging visits. If you are interested at either working at the school or medical centre for 1-9 weeks, click on the FSF logo to the right to find out more or contact Rebecca directly at:

Everyone is welcome, especially doctors and teachers.

The photo's below were taken by a great team from the company LUSH who worked at the school for 10 days in January 2010.

2. Charity collection pots

HEROES RUN 2010
small change, big difference

You can take away one of our charity collection pots and try and get them placed somewhere in the World, sending the collected money to us every 6 months.

We have had 2 shakers based in Brighton, at Sydney street cycles and Trafalgars Barbers. Along with the odd comedy button and paperclip, they have managed to collect about £1,500 in three and a half years from just those two pots.

All it costs us is a box of Cadburys Mini Heroes every time we collect them (as long as you send us a receipt with the funds that's totally cool with us). If we had all 80 of our charity pots out there regardless of how much each one raised we could build and support a lot more African schools and Orphanages than we presently do.

3. Lending a helping hand at HEROES RUN

HEROES RUN 2010
HEROES RUN 2010

Every year our HEROES RUN gets bigger, better and also much harder to manage. There are about 60 to 80 individual event roles all of which are totally vital if we are to establish this as "The" Brighton based charity event. If you can hold a shaker, wave a flag, hand out some water, point (don't worry we'll tell you which way) to name just a few of the jobs we really, really do need your help.

4. Put your own charity event for passingiton

This can and has in the past been absolutely anything just please make sure it's legal! If you need any help with design and advertising for your event we will be more than happy to help. This will be one for Matt, contact him with any ideas you have  at:
